The Wichí are approximately 80,000 people. Along with the Chulupi (about 1,200 people) and Chorotes (approximately 900) are the family of Mataco-Mataguayo. They live in Salta, Formosa and Chaco, in Argentina. Also in Bolivia and Paraguay. Today occupy marginal lands and desert mountains due to the indiscriminate felling of trees and the installation of petroleum settlements that determine the loss of native fauna.
