Filmmakers explore the impact that Edith Beale and her daughter Edie - the reclusive subjects of the Maysles Brothers 1975 documentary Grey Gardens - had on the worlds of art, fashion, and entertainment. Aunt and cousin to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis respectively, eccentric Edith and Edie Beale inspired a Broadway musical, and left an indelible imprint on the world of high fashion. With this film, the viewer gets an opportunity to better understand just why this mother/daughter duo became the source of endless fascination among the haute couture crowd.
